Changing yourself for the better: most people don’t want to change
It’s been proven to me time and time again, yet I still can’t believe it’s true.
I just can’t understand it.
If you have a problem or if things aren’t working for you in life than the best solution is to fix it. Most of the time it means to change.
Sounds easy to me.
Except most people want their problems fixed without having to change, not understanding that the thing that needs to be changed is why the problem is there the first place.
Changing yourself for the better is what most people don’t want to do
I was chatting with a friend about this. A friend of a friend needs to make changes or else the road ahead is not pretty. A road they don’t want, but will take because they don’t want to change.
They fear what the change will bring.
It’s a matter of well if I change then who will I be?
That loss of identity is more frightening than the path they don’t want.
We spend all our lives creating our stories and then we hold onto these stories because we believe they define who we are. If we take away the stories then what tis left? How can others relate to me?
We all have stories and we all need stories, but we can’t hold onto them. Our stories need to change and evolve like we do.
Changing yourself for the better
Imagine if we held onto our six month old body, because we were frightened what our twenty year old one would do. Our twenty year one would have a completely different skin cell structure and would look nothing like our baby self- maybe a glimpse here and there. But it would be perfectly designed to deal with our adult lives.
If we held on to our baby body we couldn’t progress. We couldn’t get stronger, we couldn’t get wiser, we would not evolve and we would die.
So why do we hold onto our inner selves and stories in this way?
If we do we don’t grow, we don’t get stronger or wiser, we don’t evolve and so we die.
We remain stagnant, making the same old decisions that take us down the same treacherous paths.
If only people understood that in letting go of the stories you give yourself the freedom to create a new life, a new you.
How are you with changing yourself for the better? Do you hold tightly through fear or are you happy to let go and enjoy the evolution?

Sometimes change is hard!
But I try to do it anyway.
I want to be the best me I can be, and sometimes that takes trying something else! 🙂

Change is difficult, but it can happen in an instant- its all just a decision in the end. If we want to be the best version of ourselves there are always things we need to change
