Happy 2013: what is your focus?
Wahoo! We’ve made it alive into the era that apparently was not on the Mayan calendars!
It’s a new period of joy, happiness and peace. I can feel it already, can’t you?
Time to bounce out of bed every morning and get cracking on making it the best year yet. You have the Mayan power behind you, so ride it.
I spent the last couple of months of 2012 preparing for this year and setting goals. I am not a great goal setter; I find them too restrictive–not typical of the way life moves.
You’ve got to be like the reed and bend in the wind.
Be prepared for change and goals not working out the way you mapped out.
My mapping tends to consist of focuses and broader visions. I know what I want my life to look like, and what I am working to achieve so I focus on that and take action steps daily. I still write goals and desires down as there is so much power in using that as a tool to bring them to life.
My focus for making 2013 the happiest and best yet will be the following:
Health
I am kicking off the year with a big focus on health. This month sees me go all Asia. I’ve started an Asian detox this morning, and then I’ll be continuing that good diet when we visit Thailand in 10 days.
I’ve been to see my energy healer, who doubles as a naturopath and I’m going gluten and dairy free and introducing more coconut water and oil. I’m cutting back on coffee and alcohol and practicing more yoga and meditation. Plus, Thailand will see me devoting a lot of time to massages.
Organization
I am getting the hang of this way of being and LOVING it. I’ve been working so hard on this (trust me it’s hard work). I have the girl’s rooms organised and am working on my blog planning and office organisation. I am focused on sharpening this throughout the year and maintain it. My mantra is I AM an organised person
Growth
I’m focused on growing the blogs’ audiences, particularly our Australian audience for y travel blog as they are big travellers and we feel we can really relate to their needs and stories.
We are focused on gaining exposure via traditional media. We are also committed to growing our podcast series.
Own products
I have been procrastinating on this for far too long. If you have any suggestions you would like, please let me know below or in this survey.
I have already started writing a course related to living an empowered life and Craig and I have just sent the plans in for our very first travel app. So excited and stay tuned!
Getting our finances in check
This is such a toughie, and we have pretty much been in denial for the past couple of years. I didn’t have the strength to face it, now I have and its not so bad. We have committed to creating a financial plan.
We have our money buckets set up , a debt management plan in place and a budget (the word usually makes me cringe). It feels really good to clear up the mess and the stress, and embrace money again.
Multiple streams of income
Everyone should always be focused on creating multiple streams of income, just in case something goes wrong, you have a back up flow of money.
We are focused on bringing in multiple streams of income for our blogs based upon advertising, freelance content creation, own products, campaigns, and ambassador style projects.(You can hire me!)
Now that we have our financial plan in order, we are thinking about investing again in the future. This time wisely!
Home
This is our major focus: getting a place of our own. What that looks like and where we are still working on. We think that by February we should have more of an idea on what to do.
I’m ready for a space I can call home. It’s not that I want to give up my travel, but I want some roots to return to.
What about travel?
Strangely enough, it is not high on my priority focus list this year. Maybe because I know its something that will just happen as it is part of my lifestyle. I certainly want to be travelling less on press trips, and more of our own family style.
Kalyra also starts school this year. While I am happy to homeschooling if a long-term trip comes up, I don’t want to be whisking her in and out of school. If she’s there for now then she has to have stability.
What are your focuses and goals this year?

My focus for 2013 is adventure. Last years was independence, which I haven’t acheived, but it’s constantly in the back of my mind now, so I don’t need to think about it anymore. Adventure is the right goal for me this year. The last few years have been so trapped in one spot/one lifestyle that it’s frustrating. Even if the adventures are small, I want to have them!

Love that for a focus! Adventure can be applied to so many different aspects of your life. Enjoy all the adventures coming your way

My focus for this year is preparation for a lot of targets. In line of the first one, the not too distant visit of my daughter’s family, I have several projects to pursue before the summer comes. The major one is the house itself and fixtures. Even if they decide to stay for a short while only, I need to satisfy my desire to have it repainted (DIY) and reorganize the rooms. All for their comfort and convenience, of course (although it’s like an excuse to do the stuff I’ve been meaning to for so long).
