Getting Paid to Do What You Love
It’s hard to understand how excited I am.
I’m getting paid to do what I love. It was something I had always heard other people do and thought that it would always belong in that other realm.
All I wanted to do was travel and write in my journal about it. How could you ever get paid to do that?
I’m working harder than ever before and making only just enough to stay at home. Actually I still have to subsidise it with a day of teaching here or there.
But despite not breaking wealth records at the moment, I still feel like I am earning a million bucks.
My heart is singing, “It’s my life,” harder and faster than Bon Jovi ever could.
I could earn way more money teaching , but I would never be as happy … ever.
$330 a day teaching could get anyone excited. Me, not at all. The phone rings of a morning asking me to come into work and my stomach keels over in pain and my heart deflates a little. If I know a few days before that a day of teaching is coming up then I feel sick and dread it for days.
This is no way to live a life. This is why I have been fighting every day for the last two years so I could create my own space and get paid to do what I love. To be honest, I never thought it would happen and I don’t know how it did. Pure magic.
Every day when I wake up and know that I am doing what I love I feel so wealthy.
Money is so important, but at the end of the day what matters is how you are spending your limited hours on earth earning that money.
How do you want it to make you feel? Empty, miserable. Or do you want to feel invincible and free simply because you are spending your days doing what you love?
I’ve earned lots of money before, but nothing has ever tasted sweeter than the money that comes from you creating and doing what you love. I would be just as excited if I was paid 5 cents.
Although, I wouldn’t take it, because I am worth so much more.
My recent freelance writing job with Village Voices has shown me just what I am capable of, what doors might open up now as a result, and what you can do if you really set your mind on something.
And trust me, I started this journey thinking that my writing was crap and no one would ever read it. (I still do most of the time)
Are you getting paid to do what you love?

I totally know how you feel! It’s a wonderful thing when you not only discover your passion, but then find a way to make a living doing it. Good for you! My husband and I also did that when we came to Europe a year ago. We have spent months in Denmark, Italy, and Greece making our living selling our novels on Amazon. I couldn’t be happier!

I totally feel you . I am on that stage when I feel depressed and sick when I know I have to go to work (and I don’t care either how much money I make, it is not worth it). I am still doing baby steps with my website and it is going slow. But I look up at people like you and say to myself: “I will make it, just one step at a time. It will take time, but I will make it”.
Thank you for being one of my inspirations.

Pleasure Cristina. One step at a time is the absolute key to success and it doesn’t matter how slowly either. As long as you are moving forward you are moving. Another quote we like to say is Just do the best with what you have from where you are.
It will come.
