Mojo magic tips: The best way to start your day
Your eyes open, you give a big stretch, and roll out of bed. Your feet hit the floor and what do you do?
When I was waking up to an alarm to go teach for the day, I would usually greet the day with words that souded like fire truck.
Can you imagine welcoming the one day, that will never come again, in this way?
What was I thinking?
Do you do the same?
What is that saying about your faith in the goodness of life? What is it saying about the path you are creating for that day?
No wonder traffic would get on top of me, the car would break down, or the school children would be crazy. My bad energy wasn’t helping to create the perfect day.
Just because you are stuck in a situation you don’t like, doesn’t mean you can’t start the day in a better way.
Don’t be like me. I was too stupid and stuck in my old thought patterns that said I was a victim and had no other choice.
You can easily switch this around by putting your gratitude eyes on and draw your vision to the good.
The best way to start your day is with gratitude and excitement.
If only for the fact that you are actually waking up to have another day to live.
I know as a parent, this might not always happen immediately. The kids might jump on you and you are thrown straight into fixing breakfast and getting kids ready for school. Sometimes you don’t have time to think.
But, it’s all about developing a habit. You can find a space for a quick thank you.
Your feet hit the ground as you get out of bed. Time that with a thank you.
Thank you for another day.
The most magically powerful way to start your day.
Think of 10 things you are grateful for. It’s best to write them down and express your thanks three times. If you can’t find the time, then say them out loud. (I like to do it in the shower.)
- I’m so grateful for my health, it is keeping me alive. Thank you thank you thank you
- I’m so thankful for the gift of another beautiful day to live, Thank you Thank you Thank you.
It doesn’t matter how miserable the idea of having to go to a job you don’t like, it doesn’t matter how unhealthy you feel, or how financially in need you may be, you can find 10 things in your life to be grateful for.
By the time you get to number 10 you’ll be feeling wonderful about your life. This is the most powerful form of energy you can put out and trust me that energy will attract more things for you to be grateful for.
You’ll soon be doing it out of habit and with anticipation and joy because you know how powerful it is to create magic in your life.

I was only telling my eldest this morning of what to be grateful for and what “things” in life are not necessary.
Well timed post Caz – thanks x

Pleasure! There is so much to be thankful for. When we focus on the right things, the stuff we think is important slowly fades away.

What a day for this post! I’ve woken up with a stiff neck, overtired & generally cranky as hell to be at my stupid day job listening to someone who should be at home sitting opposite me coughing and spluttering without covering their mouth.
I’m only an hour and a half into work & wondering how the hell I can make it to 4pm!
I was just about to ask twitter for tips to get me through the day and I find this post!
I’m grateful for:
1) Fairly unlimited/unrestricted internet access at work!
2) Fresh filtered & cool water to keep me hydrated throughout the day
3) A beautiful view of Brisbane whenever I walk to the work kitchen
4) The opportunity this week of good weather to get my craft activities done at home after work
5) That I finally found some shorts for summer so I no longer have to swelter in jeans
6) That I can go home tonight & hug my husband & dog
7) The skills I have that are slowly building my life away from a 9-5 job
8) The smell of the silky oak chopping board & cheese knife I was given last night as a late birthday present
9) For the freedom of knowing that (despite what it feels like now) I won’t be in this place forever
10) You! For asking me to write this list – providing me with a way to refocus and get my day going better.

Wonderful Vanessa!! I am so glad this post inspired you to write your list and thank you for sharing! It’s such a powerful way to change the direction of your day and life. Keep doing it every day. You’ll be amazed at how things change, and quite quickly.
soon you’ll be doing it without realizing it throughout the whole day.

THIS. This is the outlook I need to have, that can so quickly slip away and get caught up in negativity. With 6 weeks left to the school year, while I’m procrastinating writing reports and not loving all the unfun things, I need to stop and remind myself to be thankful that I’ve been given the privilege to be help these kids to the best of my ability. When I struggle to get up in the morning (with those similar fire trucks) I need to remind myself that I ought to be grateful for the fact that I’ve got a job to go (as when I’m relieving next year, I won’t have that dependable income). When I moan about having to do the dishes or tidy up the house, I need to remind myself to be thankful that I have those dishes because I have food to eat and there are so many people who unfortunately don’t, and that trail of mess I leave around the house, at least has a roof over it. Thanks for reminding me to be thankful.

Yep! It’s amazing how you can turn so many negative situations into good ones just by being grateful. There is always someone worse off than you. We all have those moments when we get fed up and want to complain. If you just make an effort to switch your thinking like this you can totally change your life And it is so easy!

I love this post – so I am grateful for that. Also for the comments which amp up the gratitude. I’m reading this a few days later, but today is the right day for me to read it as it builds on something else I’ve been trying – not judging, but also something more, finding something good in every person I meet. This morning in yoga class (tick very grateful) I looked at every single class participant (its a free yoga class by the beach so there were 30 or more) and found something to silently compliment them about. And it felt good. Then when I went to the hairdresser (another big tick for gratitude as my colour was at least two weeks overdue and my hair looked disastrous). I met a great-grandmother (73) who had sole custody of four great-grandchildren. The children were well-behaved and quite delightful as they each waited for a haircut. The oldest, an eight year old girl, engaged me in conversation and we chatted about hair and why mine looked funny with the foils in it and other stuff as my daughter is in the same year at school. I was waiting for my husband to pick me up so I chatted with her and two of the other kids and even went outside with them to investigate a beautiful big Moreton Bay fig tree. I am grateful these kids have their great-grandmother in their life. What a lovely lady she was who told me when we chatted that she would look after them as long as health permitted. ‘You’re wealthy if you’re healthy’ she said. I’m grateful that this experience has given me a topic for a blog post, and sorry my comment is so long!
