Why Mojito Mother?
Mojito Mother is more about an attitude than the actual drink.
I discovered mojitos in a bar in Key West and I’ll never forget the first sip:
Summery, refreshing, light, and definitely packing a punch.
In perfect alignment of what I think life should be about.
The idea for this blog came to me one evening when I questioned “What the hell I was doing with my life. What should I be doing? And would somebody please just answer me?”
The answer came, not as a clear distinct, “Caroline, you should create a blog called Mojito Mother.”
But more in droves of ideas which eventually led me here.
The Mojito Kick is what we need to help us Live our Dreams
Being a mother is a wonderful thing, but it should never be your only identity. You don’t have to give up your identity in order to be a great mother. You can raise your children in a strong, loving way, and still look after your own needs, and chase your own dreams as well.
Many people say to me, “You won’t be able to travel now you have children.”
Why not?
Having children doesn’t mean you have to stop living. The way we do things might change a little bit and be a bit more challenging, but you can still do it.
The Mojito Mother does not let society determine their experience of motherhood. She does. She understands that barriers are there to be tested, she maintains her sense of self and dreams whilst catering to the demands of being a mum, a wife and woman.
The Mojito Spell
The word mojito is African in origin, coming from the word mojo, meaning to place a little spell.
Your mojo is your magic. When you are in touch with your mojo, it is almost like you put a spell over things, because you can make anything happen just the way you want. You can easily and effortlessly create your dream life.
The Mojito Exoticness
The mojito is a drink from Cuba, a small Caribbean island that has been shut off for many years to the rest of the world due to the US embargo. You can still visit Cuba, although challenging to get there, once you arrive, it is a land of untold beauty and exotic charm.
Ernest Hemingway, known to be one of the greatest travel writers of all time, made the mojito a famous signature drink whilst living in Cuba. Of course my passion is travel, and writing.
I love the exoticness of life that travel has helped me to discover. This exoticness can be wrapped up in a Cuban mojito.
The Mojito Personality- Laid back, fresh, uncomplicated with the right amount of kick
Further confirmation that I had chosen the right name came when I took the “What cocktail personality are you test?” and came out as a mojito!
Laid-back and easygoing, you prefer relaxed atmospheres over schmoozing or working the room.
A mojito would be the perfect cocktail for you because it embodies the spirit of summer where everyone just wants to kick back, relax, and not worry about anything. Plus, like the mojito, with you, what you see is what you get. There’s no plastikan about you whatsoever–you’re fresh and uncomplicated and have just enough kick to bring the arty into party!
This was the final kicker to the name of this blog. This definitely defines who I am and what this blog represents.
Life or motherhood, does not have to be stressful and mundane. It can be relaxing, enjoyable, fun, fresh with plenty of spice and punch.
